“You Must Really Feel Guilty!”

Well….yes, but let me explain…

Yesterday, I brought home a bottle of scotch and these lovely flowers. “Just because I love you, dear!”

She saw right through me. “What is going on? You must feel really guilty about something!”

OK, I admit…I rarely buy the love of my life flowers and I don’t like scotch. But, can’t a guy do something impulsive without being interrogated? I mean, really? Who is with me on this?

So back to my story…Today, I was out shoveling snow when a FedEx truck came around the corner. I threw down my shovel and ran out to meet him. After thanking the driver repeatedly, I ran back into the house. (Oh stop! I know what you are thinking! I knew he was coming today. I have been tracking this package for days!)

BEHOLD! My new macro lens! (The Pringles can assembly is used to diffuse the light for closeup shots.) Sigma Macro 105 mm F2.8 EX DG OS HASM (I’m sure the directions will explain all the letters.) B&H Photo is the place to go!

So, what can this amazing optical wonder do? Here are my first shots right out of the box. (No, I did not read the directions yet. It’s a lens, not the Space Station!)

This lens is amazing! I can shoot ‘normal’ shots or move in for macro. Take a look…

This bold female cardinal was my very first model. Her male partner was stuffing himself with birdseed while she defended her territory in preparation for spring. She is still out there attacking her reflection. Yep, the male eats while the female works.
This is NaCl or common table salt. Good snowflakes are much bigger than these cubes. My gear is now set for the next Arctic blast! Bring it on!

I now have to put my new toy away. My dear wife will get her flowers back and I need to finish shoveling snow before it freezes. (Ha! You thought I forgot!)

Cold Enough to Freeze Your Bubbles

Like all my photo shoots, I got off to a disappointing start…

Then, the sun came up and reminded me that beauty is still all around us!

LESSON: So, how you are you doing? Feel like crap? Is your life in the toilet? There is always hope, for the sun will come up again tomorrow!
